Mentee Match

The only requirement is that you are a GLIC+FFA member in good standing.

This is decided by you and your mentor. Ideally, mentees should plan to communicate with their mentor a minimum of one time per month. The formal GLIC+FFA mentor-mentee relationship can last one year or as long as the mentor and mentee wish to continue.

GLIC+FFA mentors can be valuable resources to emerging industry professionals. As a mentee, you are encouraged to establish a strong relationship with your mentor and learn from his or her professional experiences. Feel free to ask lots of questions. For instance, you want to learn about the value of networking or how to make the most of your membership in the association.

Find out the best way and time to get in touch with your mentor and stay in contact with your mentor regularly. If, for any reason, you are unable to continue the relationship, please let your mentor know and contact the association office. Be sure to thank your mentor. Keep in mind, your mentor is volunteering his or her time!

This will depend on the communication style preferred by both you and your mentee. There are two ways to share your information: e-mail and telephone. If you live in close vicinity with your mentee and would like to schedule a face-to-face meeting, this is ideal. Whichever communication method you choose, be sure that it is mutually compatible.

Balancing work, social experiences and relationships can be challenging. Remember to be respectful of your mentor’s time. If you need to reschedule a meeting for any reason, be sure to communicate this to your mentor within a timely manner. You should expect the same treatment by your mentor!
