First Presidents Responsibilities

Liaison for the President and Convention Committee

I. Convention Committee
Chairperson - Dianne Tunison
Co-Chair - Mary Sowers
To organize convention, formulate plans and confirm arrangements with Lansing Center, Convention Management, and Art Craft. Develop techniques to gain sponsorships.

Sales/Sponsorships
Chairperson - Micki Nicholson
To coordinate the sales of the trade show and obtain sponsorships.

Convention Hospitality Area
Chairperson - Louisa Westendorp, Clyde Dosenberry
Make arrangements for hospitality area by contacting suppliers for donations, set up area, and recruit volunteers.

Welcome Reception
Chairperson - Mary Sowers, Dianne Tunison
Plan the evening for welcoming new and returning members of the convention.

Convention Social Event
Chairperson - Curt White, Steve Christensen
Set up convention social evening for networking for suppliers and operators.

Silent Auction
Chairperson - John Emanuel, Curt White
Set up Silent Auction by contacting members for donations.

Education Committee
Chairperson - Nancy Plummer
Assistant - Cindy Bristol, Debbie Day
Plan educational seminars and obtain speakers for convention.

50/50 Raffle
Chairperson - Clyde Doosenberry, Cindy Bristol, State Ambassadors
Set up 50/50 raffle; keep records; recruit volunteers.

II. Associations Relations
Chairperson - Bruce Kratt
To ensure that the benefits to our members are carried out in a professional and timely fashion.

Membership Committee
Chairperson - Rex Durdel, Steve Christensen, Dave Halman
Develop techniques for increasing membership of operators and suppliers. Assign workers at GLIC booth during convention - assuring coverage at all times. All board members are urged to become involved in this important committee.

Nominating Committee
Chairperson - Dallas Mesack, John Emanuel
Propose a ballot for the election of board of directors at annual meeting, prepare a slate of officers to be elected, notify new board members with results of the election and apprise them of meeting dates, location, etc. This committee shall also be responsible for recommending individuals to fill any vacancies on the board.

Marketing/Public Relations/Website
Chairperson - Bruce Kratt, Kelly Larson, Susan Mesack
Newsletter - Louisa Westendorp, Susan Mesack
Develop techniques to promote our association and maintain our website. Contact area media for coverage of convention, press releases promoting seminars, and other association events. Keep newsletter publications up to date with the latest information in our industry.

Scholarship Committee
Chairperson - Greg Finzel, Nancy Plummer, Louisa Westendorp
Review scholarship applications, select winners based upon eligibility qualifications set forth, hold drawings for winners, and contact winners.

III. Continuing Events
Chairperson - Kelly Larson
To continuously streamline the day to day operations of the association and follow the workings of our local comunities.

Governmental Liaison
Chairperson - Clyde Doosenberry
Serve as liaison between our association and applicable governmental organizations. Keep members informed of any legislation of rules that could affect our industry and utilize our association newsletters and/or special mailings to keep members informed.

Ambassador Program
Chairperson - Anne Iaquinto, Susan Mesack
Assist and review Ambassador program progress, approve budget spending, review phone card charges, and ambassador mileage costs.

IV. Budget/Finance Committee
Chairperson - Michelle Beard, Kelly Larson
Review all association expenses, establish budget with each committee and assume authority to approve or disapprove budget excesses.
